A man was passing through the forest and coming towards the city, then he met an old man.
The old man asked him where are you going?
He said: I am going to the city.
He said: Well, if you want to go to such and such a neighborhood, there is a man named Abdullah living in such and such a place, he is called Abdullah Hajib, he is the porter of a nobleman, say my greetings to him.
When this gentleman came to this neighborhood, he remembered and searched for Abdullah Hajib is here.
So people said that they live in such and such a place and the doorkeeper (gatekeeper) of a rich man could be in a better position.
I reached there and went to them and told them that I was coming from such a place on such and such day. On the way, I met an old man.
Abdullah Hajib said "Walik wa alaihis salam".
After that, the man asked who those elders were, and who was greeting them.
Abdullah Hajib said, "What is your purpose with this?"
But the man kept insisting to tell me because his face was very bright, I feel like he is a great personality.
He said he was actually Hazrat Khizr (peace be upon him).
It occurred to this man why Hazrat Khizr (peace be upon him) is sending greetings to this man in a special way, when there are so many people in this city, there will be imams of mosques and there will also be teachers and seminarians of madrasas, big and significant.
There will be sheiks of monasteries, there will be scholars and muftis, but leaving them all, why is Hazrat Khizr (peace be upon him) sending greetings to him, that too to a porter, what is the matter?
Therefore, he asked that I want to find out why Hazrat Khidr (peace be upon him) greets you with a characteristic.
He said that he and I have a relationship, so he said hello.
This man said: Do you do any specific action?
So Abdullah Hajib said:
I am engaged in any work, so my heart is not oblivious to God.
Then he narrated his description that I wake up in the morning, after that, I do this, after that, I do this, I go to Amir, I serve him and live like this, but whatever I do, my heart is sometimes oblivious to God.*
